Board of Trustees Suspends Presidential Search

The Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Board of Trustees has suspended its search for a president.  The Board announced its decision tonight at its monthly meeting.  Dr. John L. Henderson will continue as interim president until 2010.

Robert W. McKenna, Jr., board chairman, said, “The chairman’s report concerns the Presidential Search.  The search process has proceeded as intended.  Candidates were reviewed and interviewed by the Search Committee.

As the search process went on, board members sensed and had confirmed a more positive, mission-driven atmosphere within the College.  This atmosphere has to be attributed to Dr. Henderson’s leadership.  In light of this and to provide continuity and sustain the momentum we have, the Board has decided to suspend the search for a president until 2009.  Dr. Henderson will continue as interim president until a president is selected in 2010.  The Search Committee unanimously and enthusiastically supports this decision.

This decision does not reflect on the quality of the candidates interviewed.  Instead, it reflects on the qualities Dr. Henderson has brought to us.

The board thanks the Search Committee for its time and dedication to the process.  Your time was not wasted.  It gave all of us the opportunity to understand and appreciate what was best for the College community and Dr. Henderson’s contribution to this.

We also believe that by waiting until 2010, the College will have the time to organize its search without a sense of urgency and with a clearer focus on the future needs of the College.”
